Registration process

Uber interested organizers line up every year, only to be a part of this grand ceremony. The roadmap to this prestigious award obviously begins with the registration process. The link to the form was up on the website for a month, where clubs and puja committees from all around the city had applied to participate. Registration is indeed a vital and extensive process.

SELECTION PROCESS

The registration process for the awards show garnered a massive response with more than 300 applications submitted. Clubs and committees were all vying for the prestigious award and the accompanying prize money. However, the sheer number of applications required expert opinions and judgment to select the most deserving winners.

SELECTION AS PER PRE-REQUISITES

In the initial round of selection for the GSOE awards 2023, the in-house judges had to set some basic parameters and prerequisites. After reviewing the huge number of applications based on these criteria, only 155 out of the 300 puja committees that had applied were deemed eligible to advance to the semi final round.

SELECTION BY ART COLLEGE STUDENTS

The second round of selection was carried out by Art College students. They paid close consideration to minute details of the artistic expression and other requirements. As a result, only a handful remained. This round was also graced by the celebrity judges such as Neil Mukherjee, Sayantani Guha Thakurta and Srijani Mitra. 30 puja committees were selected in this round, and they headed towards the most awaited finale round!

SELECTION BY CELEBRITY JUDGES

The Grand Finale round exuded splendor in its true sense. The popular Bengali celebrity names were present in the judges panel to decide on the winners. They personally visited the clubs and handpicked the most deserving efforts and initiatives. These selective pujas were awarded as the winners of this whole program. 12 clubs were selected, to receive their prize money and celebrate.

Known Bengali faces like veteran actor Barun Chanda, Rajatava Biswas, Singer Rupam Islam, new-age actors like Rwitobroto Mukherjee, Swastika Dutta, Ishaa Saha, Singer-Director Anindya Chatterjee, cricket administrator Sambaran Banerjee, actor Debpratim Dasgupta, football player Alvito D’Kunha, Regional Director of IGCC Tom Reiner and Entrepreneur and IT businessman David Bassetti were in the judge’s panel.

Prize distribution

After the prize distribution ceremony, a grand celebration party was held at Tolly Club, a posh location in South Kolkata. The winners, team members, and their family members were all invited to attend the event and receive their awards and prize money. Additionally, the artisans and idol makers were also invited to the party, and their cheques were handed over to them. The evening was filled with delicious food, fun activities, interesting stories, and lively music, creating an extravagant yet intimate atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
